Testing Crystal from a Lighter
Things Required
1) Oscilloscope or Multimeter
2) Piezoelectric Crystal( Found In Piezoelectric Ligters)
STEPS
1) Remove the crystal from the piezoelectric lighter or buy it from a shop
2) The crystal is a cylinder embedded in the rectangular plastic and epoxy body so you never see it. On one end is a small metal ball. This is the end that we hit. The pressure is applied on the same axis as the polarity.
3) Attach the probes of the Oscilloscope or Multimeter to the metallic end of the crystal.
4) Give a slight push or shake the crystal with the probes still attached to it.
5) Observe the reading in the Oscilloscope or Multimeter
6) Now hit it against a table top or any hard surface.
7) Again Observe the readings.
Here are pictures for demonstration.

Shaking the crystal with fingers

This is the resulting 4.16 volts as a result of shaking with finger.

Hitting the crystal against a table top's.

This is the resulting 240 volts as a result of hitting it against the table top.
